Hire slowly, part honestly

The cost of hiring the wrong person is larger than it looks. It is not just their salary. It is the productivity and morale of the entire team. So we take our time with hiring. We do not rush. Multiple people interview. We find ways to work together before committing.

Parting, in contrast, is honest. When it becomes clear that continuing together is bad for both sides, we say so plainly. We do not soften the message to avoid discomfort, because we believe that dragging it out or being vague is the real disrespect.

Letting someone go is always hard. But avoiding that difficulty ends up hurting more people in the long run.
