Decisions made out loud disappear. Everyone remembers a different version, and over time each person recalls the one most favourable to them. So we put decisions in writing.

Writing forces clarity. Ambiguities surface. Gaps in logic become visible. And months later, when someone asks why we made that choice, the answer is right there. A conversation alone would have left nothing behind.
